DE TURISMO POR HELSINKI EN LOS RATOS LIBRES // SIGHTSEEING NEAR AND AROUND HELSINKI IN OUR SPARE TIME
Nuestra estancia en Finlandia para conocer el sistema educativo finlandés también nos ha permitido hacer algo de turismo, aprovechando el primer fin de semana y el último sábado.
Porvoo
El primer sábado visitamos Porvoo, un pueblo situado en la costa sur, a unos 50 kilómetros de Helsinki. Es una de las seis localidades medievales en Finlandia, destaca por el buen estado de sus construcciones del siglo XVIII y XIX, así como su catedral del siglo XV. Pasamos un día estupendo paseando por el río, sus callejuelas y visitando la catedral.
Of the 8 days we spent in Finland in total, we were able to
do some sightseeing during the first weekend and the Saturday we were leaving.
On Sunday 5th, we visited
Porvoo, a city on the southern coast about 50 kilometres from Helsinki. It is
one of the six medieval towns in Finland, well-known for its well preserved
18th and 19th century buildings and 15th century cathedral. We spent a delightful day strolling by the river and along its
streets and visiting the cathedral.

Helsinki es un paraíso para los amantes de la arquitectura contemporánea y el diseño. Nosotros mismos contemplamos admirados el exterior e interior de magníficos edificios modernos.
Helsinki is a paradise for architecture and design lovers, and, in this sense, we allowed ourselves to be carried away by the magnificent examples of 20th and 21st centuries modern buildings.

El lugar que más nos ha llamado la atención, y que define bien la forma de vida y actitud de la sociedad finlandesa actual es la Biblioteca Central, Oodi. En ella pueden convivir en armonía y tranquilo silencio ciudadanos de todas las edades y niveles culturales. Un buen sitio de reunión y cobijo para los numerosos días fríos en Helsinki, donde cada cual puede pasar las horas de distinta manera: leyendo, charlando, cosiendo, trabajando con el ordenador, escuchando música...
Otro de los encantos de Finlandia son sus preciosos paisajes y bosques. Estas fotos fueron tomadas por nuestro compañero Fernando, cuando salía a correr, antes de ir al instituto.
